Alchemy, Inc. is a small non-profit organization located in Akron, Ohio. We create a safe environment and sense of community to assist urban adolescent males in their development through the telling, discussion, and analysis of mythological stories and fairy tales told to the beat of an African drum.
The idea came from the work of Michael Meade while our theoretical foundation is based on the work of C.G. Jung, Joseph Campbell and the Akran System of Life Cycle Development (African-based rites of passage).
Our work presently takes place primarily with youth in Akron and Cleveland but we are in the process of creating a training program which will assist others in using our proven method.
