Matthew Blank
Lafayette, Colorado, US
Matthew envisions cultural change through intergenerational mentoring and the realization of coactive visions. His work has primary grown from the platform of the Teen Institute model and he has designed and lead or volunteered in academic and initiation-based programs in NJ, NM, and GA.
Matthew took a multi-dimensional orientation to mental health and wellness studies. He facilitated at personal growth retreats with the Human Relations Organization, while studying under pioneer art therapist Susan G. Barris at Montclair State University. He then studied family systems with Salvador Minuchin associate, Rich Holm, through New York University’s School of Social Work. Matthew worked with youth and adults in northern NJ and northern NM, having multiple roles in mentorship programs: a founding role in Teen Institute of the Garden State (TIGS), designing and facilitating programs through New Mexico Community FaithLinks, and contributing to programs such as Boys to Men NM and Creativity for Peace. Co-founding a capacity-building nonprofit to overcome systemic limitations made it clear that a more immediate, holistic, sustainable, and hip approach was required to affect large-scale change.
Matthew recognizes that younger generations carry intuitive visions and the unique gifts to manifest them. He co-founded the Indigo Healing Institute, integrating shamanic practice, where he developed a method to teach the integration of gifts and expansion of creativity for calling up visions to be actualized in the world.
Matthew exercised his own creative channel by teaching himself guitar through the process of songwriting. He has since fronted bands showcasing his original music, including the renowned Albuquerque band, Mystery School, written a full length rock opera, and acted in numerous productions. Matthew has organized arts and spirituality events, including as a director and ranger of 3SidedWhole transformational festivals in NM. Matthew was an investigator with Child Protective Services in NM. He is currently with Adult Protective Services in CO and is a member of the New Mexico Men’s Wellness community.
